Simply Astonishing Gur (Jaggery) Rice Recipe

Gur (jaggery) is used in many households in many ways. Many people like to eat it just by taking a bite after meals, they believe it helps digest the food.

First step is to soak the rice for 30 minutes. meanwhile, take a big vessel, and add water to it. Put it to a boil. When the water is boiling, put aromatic basmati rice in it and add a few cloves, green cardamom, two, three cinnamon sticks, and two, three-star anise. Let the rice be almost a little more than half done. strain the water.

Put some ghee or butter in a large pan. Add a few cinnamon sticks, star anise, and cloves to it as well.

Keep the flame medium. Now add jaggery pieces to the ghee/butter and some water just to add a runny thick mixture.

The next step would be to add the rice to the mixture you prepared. Mix the rice with the mixture syrup-like texture gently without breaking the rice.

Add your chosen dry fruits and coconut pieces too.

Take the lid off the pan and keep it handy. Now take a fresh, neat, and clean piece of cloth, large enough to cover the lid evenly from bottom to top.

Place the lid on the prepared rice pan and on low flame let the rice be set and properly done for 15 minutes.

Your Gur Chawal are ready, serve with fresh cream. Enjoy.
